The Great Escape
When you stay at the Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Water Park, you are steps away from all the fun and excitement of The Great Escape & Splashwater Kingdom.
A popular Lake George destination for over 60 years, The Great Escape originally opened in 1954 as Storytown USA. Geared toward small children, the park featured attractions based on the stories and themes found in the Mother Goose collection of fairy tales and nursery rhymes.
The park expanded several times, and in 1983, officially changed its name to The Great Escape to more appropriately reflect the Park’s modern focus on rides and attractions for all ages.
Today the park features over 135 rides, shows, an outdoor water park and roller coasters including a wooden rollercoaster — The Comet – which has consistently ranked among the top wooden roller coasters in North America.
Those staying at the Lodge may want to consider upgrading their visit to The Great Escape with a VIP Tour. You will enjoy first-class service with a personal tour guide, front-of-the-line ride access, a customized itinerary, up-close seating at shows, and private sessions with characters. You can learn more at The Great Escape website.
